# THE TEMPTATION OF JESUS #

 

 1) “If you are God's Son, order these stones to turn into bread.”

2) “If you are God's Son, throw yourself down, for the Scripture says,

         ‘God will give orders to his angels about you;
    they will hold you up with their hands,
    so that not even your feet will be hurt on the stones.’”

3) “All this I will give you,” the Devil said, “if you kneel down and worship me.”

# WAS THE TEMPTATION OF JESUS TOO DIFFICULT OR WAS IT TOO EASY??? #

• ·       The Bible says, “After spending forty days and nights without food, Jesus was hungry.”

• ·        Do you remember in Genesis 25:31-34, “Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright now.” Esau said, “I am about to die; of what use is a birthright to me?”  Jacob said, “Swear to me now.” So he swore to him and sold his birthright to Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew, and he ate and drank and rose and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.”

• ·        Satan knew all this when he tempted Jesus.

• ·        For Esau it was difficult but Jesus didn’t despise his birthright.

# DON’T TAKE YOUR ENEMY SO LIGHTLY #

• ·        Satan knew Jesus is Son of God.

• ·        Satan knew He can turn stone into bread.

• ·        Satan knew Jesus was hungry.

• ·        Satan provokes Jesus with the phrase, “If you are God’s Son.”

• ·        Satan knew people kept on asking Him signs and wonders to believe He is Son Of God.

• ·        Satan knows Scripture as well.

• ·        Satan asks Jesus to throw himself down.

• ·        In fact, all those who put the Lord to the test, puts Him down.

• ·        We always find in the Bible how hypocrites and devil use Scripture for their own motives.

# PLACE YOURSELF IN HIS SHOES #

·        There might be times when we give up our bad habits...for e.g. Can you place yourself in these examples...

·        Gave up the habit of..
1) Drugs
2) Alcohol
3) Pornography
4) Cheating
5) Bribe
6) Betting
7) Lying
8) Add your habit

·       

•  And then you feel God's peace surrounding you. A peace which no one else can give you. As a proud Son/Daughter you face this world next day...

• ·      And it’s done...Alas! You cry to the Lord...Jesus I can’t leave that habit...Or maybe you don’t consult him...and in mere frustration you decide to give up.

• ·        Ever thought what Jesus wants you to do..???We always tell him…wear my shoes Daddy and then you'll understand!!!

• ·        But dear Son/Daughter of Christ, Your Daddy already went through this.

• When we read the Bible…we see that when John the Baptist baptized our Lord, Heaven opened and a voice came from heaven,

• Matthew 3:17,” Then a voice said from heaven, “This is my own dear Son, with whom I am pleased.”

• ·        And the every next moment Satan tempts Lord, "if you are Son of God..."

• ·        Satan had no doubt, unlike other hypocrites, he really knew Jesus was the Son of God...but Satan creates a doubt here…

• ·        His way of telling, “if you are the Son of God how come you are hungry!"

•     “If you are the Son of God how come angels not surrounding you!

•     “If you are the Son of God how come you are not prince of this world!

• ·        Jesus was tempted by Devil in every way (Luke 4:13) but Jesus won the temptation. Later Angels came and ministered Him.

• ·        Do you want that CHRIST may fortify this Friday for you?

•     Do you want to fight against Satan like Jesus did?
